Seven informative tips for LIS students planning to attend career fairs. Although the article is specific to the SU iSchool most of the information is general in nature. I wish my school had held one for LIS students while I was completing my MLIS.

There is another Ladies Learning to Code event in Calgary. This one is an Introduction to JavaScript. The event costs $54.49, which I think is very reasonable. Register here. The event space is in Hillhurst, an area affected by the #yycflood. As invites were sent yesterday, I’m assuming the location is not damaged.
The Canadian Government needs to pilot a program like this! Unfortunately, I can’t imagine this happening with a Harper government. We need to advocate for more open data and a transparent government, especially with government budgets and programs funded by taxpayer wallets.
N.B. At the bottom of the article is a map of America…all the cities that have signed up are quite similar to the distribution of Democratic states. Also can’t see a Republican government launching a program like this. Obama rocks.
