Library Content Platform Hoopla Digital Adds DC Comics | Digital Book World
hoopla digital, the digital library content distributor, expands its offering of digital comics in a deal with DC Entertainment.
The platform has made a range of multimedia content available to library patrons since it was launched by Midwest Tape in 2013, including video, music, audiobooks and digital comics, all of which can be access by iOS and Android mobile apps. Ebooks, however, were a late addition, arriving in hoopla digital’s catalog only last month.
There’s no word on how many titles DC is contributing, but hoopla digital says its full content catalog now stands at 325,000 titles, and its user base has grown by more than 200% in the past year.

Library Catalog Cards For Classic Books | HuffPost Books
For many of us, a trip to the library these days involves an efficient search on the branch’s site, a hold placed on a hot new release, and a quick pop-in to collect our spoils.
It’s great that so many libraries have gone digital — and some have even gone bookless— because to remain open, remaining relevant is key. Still, it’s hard not to pine for the more quixotic days of dusty shelves and hand-written library catalog cards.
For those of us who romanticize a more tactile library experience, Chronicle Books has created stationary from images of The Library of Congress’s original cards for a number of classic authors. The text of each card interestingly matches the mood often evoked when imagining the author’s era.

OverDrive announces new APIs for Library Circulation | OverDrive
Last year we introduced the initial set of OverDrive APIs that enable approved vendors to deeply integrate OverDrive-hosted catalogs and nearly 1 million digital titles with their apps and platforms. These included the ability to access catalog metadata, see availability of a title and search the library’s collection.
Today, we are excited to announce that the all-new Circulation APIs are available on the OverDrive Developer Portal. The Circulation APIs will allow approved partners to request checkouts, downloads, holds, and returns from within their own discovery interface. This means users will now be able to browse and search their library’s digital collection, see what’s available and check out a title or place a hold all without ever leaving the library OPAC.

Worldwide National Library Catalogs | OEDB.org
National libraries are tasked with the centuries-long responsibility of preserving books and documents that keep a country’s history and heritage safe through war, disaster, and the passage of time. They’re also responsible for sharing these vast and valuable documents with citizens of the country, and the world.
National libraries are the absolute best resource for finding publications within any given country. This is thanks to legal deposit, legislation in many countries that requires publishers to provide the national library with a copy of each publication. In some countries, this even includes digital publications.
Through national library catalogs, you can search all of the publications within a country. Many national libraries also offer extensive digital collections, offering online researchers access to documents of historical importance, official publications, even images and video.
