Reddit, the self-proclaimed “front page of the Internet,” has finally earned a place at the social network table.
The online community, which allows people to submit content and vote it up or down based on interest, is used by 6 percent of U.S. Internet users, according to the Pew Research Center.

Branding yourself has become more important than ever.
Employers often now turn to Google to search for potential employees and interns. Unfortunately, typing someone’s first and last name into Google does not always guarantee a result of accurate content, and that is the exact reason that BrandYourself.com was created.

“Google prepares a new service that’s called Google Mine. It’s integrated with Google+ and it’s a way to keep track of the items you own or you’d like to have and share some of them with your circles. Right now, the service is tested internally at Google.
“Google Mine lets you share your belongings with your friends and keep up to date with what your friends are sharing. It enables you to control which of your Google+ Circles you share an item with. It also lets you rate and review the items, upload photos of them and share updates on the Google+ Stream where your friends get to see and comment on them.”

I don’t have a Google+ account yet but if there was a good motivation to join this would be it.

Metadata in twitter posts lets readers in on your geographic location, the language you speak, the phone you use, and more. They’re also a mapmaker’s best friend.
Quotable: “A second visualization shows language use on Twitter. Metadata from Twitter messages also tells the language the tweet was sent in. In the United Kingdom, most tweets are in English…except in London, where a cacophony of foreign-language tweets dominate the visualization.”
We’re excited to announce the launch of the Mozilla Science Lab, a new initiative that will help researchers around the world use the open web to shape science’s future.
Scientists created the web — but the open web still hasn’t transformed scientific practice to the same extent we’ve seen in other areas like media, education and business. For all of the incredible discoveries of the last century, science is still largely rooted in the “analog” age. Credit systems in science are still largely based around “papers,” for example, and as a result researchers are often discouraged from sharing, learning, reusing, and adopting the type of open and collaborative learning that the web makes possible.
The Science Lab will foster dialog between the open web community and researchers to tackle this challenge. Together they’ll share ideas, tools, and best practices for using next-generation web solutions to solve real problems in science, and explore ways to make research more agile and collaborative.

There’s no shortage of apps and websites to help us share our lives through videos, pictures and text messages, but we’ve moved farther and farther away from what was once the central means of communicating: the sound of our own voice. Now, a couple startups (Dubbler and Eevzdrop) are trying to change that. See the full article at: Startups Bet Audio Is the Next Frontier for Social Media | Mashable.
